Privacy Policy

Kintide is built on trust. We collect only what we need to deliver your daily family schedule briefings — and nothing more. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you can control it.

1. Who We Are

Kintide ("we," "our," or "us") is a family scheduling notification service operated as a personal project. You can reach us at hello@getkintide.com for any privacy-related questions.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account.

Google Calendar data. With your explicit permission via Google OAuth, we access your Google Calendar events to generate your daily briefings. We read calendar event titles, times, and attendee names. We do not read event descriptions, attachments, or meeting links unless they are part of the event title.

App settings. We store your notification preferences, calendar-to-family-member mappings, and chosen display name. This data lives in our database associated with your account.

Waitlist email. If you submitted your email on our landing page before signing up, we store that email address to notify you of updates.

Device and usage data. We may collect basic usage information such as app version, device type, and error logs to improve the service. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

To generate and deliver your daily schedule briefing notifications
To display your family's upcoming events in the app
To send you the notification updates you've scheduled (morning update, tomorrow preview, etc.)
To remember your preferences and calendar settings across sessions
To notify waitlist subscribers when Kintide launches or updates
To debug errors and improve the service

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your calendar data with any third parties.

4. Google OAuth and Calendar Access

Kintide uses Google OAuth 2.0 to authenticate you and access your Google Calendar. Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

We only read calendar data — we never create, edit, or delete your events
We access only the calendars you explicitly connect during onboarding
Your Google data is used solely to provide the Kintide service to you
We do not transfer your Google data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service
We do not use Google data for advertising or to train machine learning models

You can revoke Kintide's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

5. Push Notifications

Kintide delivers push notifications via your browser's Web Push API (on iOS, this requires adding the app to your home screen via Safari 16.4+). Notification delivery is handled through a server-side push service. Notification content includes calendar event summaries generated from your calendar data. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or within the Kintide app.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secured database. We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Access to user data is restricted to the minimum necessary for the service to function. We do not store raw Google Calendar tokens longer than necessary to refresh your notifications.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your information, we will notify you promptly.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information, calendar mappings, and notification settings within 30 days. Waitlist emails are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data
Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal data
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Opt-out: Unsubscribe from waitlist emails at any time

California residents (CCPA) and EU/UK residents (GDPR) have additional rights. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@getkintide.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Kintide is intended for adults (18+) who manage their family's schedule. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or email before the changes take effect. Continued use of Kintide after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
